Meet Alyssa!
Hi Barks on Bourbon family, my name is Alyssa Statz, I'm the owner of Barks on Bourbon! I'm a 31 year old mother of 2 (soon to be 3, if you haven't noticed). My son, Jax is 5 years old, and my step daughter, Arianna is 12 years old. My partner Tylor and I have been together for 6 years, and together with our 2 human children, we share our home with 2 dogs. Lux is our 6 year old English Bulldog, and Bourbon is our 1 year old Poodle. I'm a sucker for a brindle coat, so, as expected, both of my four-legged babies are brindle! We also share our property with 2 outdoor/shed kitties named Dennis and Beatrice. I am very excited to be adding another human baby boy to my pack in May of 2025!
I love spending my free time with friends and family! I'm a country music lover, and enjoy live music ALWAYS! Although I'm scared of the water, I love boating and spending time up at our family lake house in Merrimac. I love taking family rides on our side by side and watching the kids, dogs, and cats play in the yard makes me happy! Warm weather is my favorite, so if you're looking for me you can find me outside in the sun sitting by the pool or lake all summer long!
My love for animals started at a young age, and I always knew I would thrive working with animals in some way. I started my journey with dog grooming in 2016, and then purchased the building where Barks on Bourbon resides in 2017. Soon after, we opened the doors in March of 2018! Upon opening, I didn't have much experience with dog Boarding and Daycare, but with the help of faithful employees, and supportive family and friends, Barks on Bourbon has become a place you all know and love! Most of my time at Barks is spent in the grooming room making your dogs clean and beautiful!

Meet Grace!
Hello! My name is Grace and I am the Manager at Barks on Bourbon! I grew up with a younger brother outside of Mazomanie, WI with dogs, cats, hamsters, a hedgehog, fish, cows, horses, llamas, chickens, and rabbits. Thank goodness I had patient parents to put up with me bringing home a new pet every week
Ever since I was little I knew I wanted to work with animals so after I graduated high school in 2017 I attended UW-River Falls to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine with an Equine emphasis but quickly realized there were so many other options I could pursue! I graduated in 2021 with a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science and minors in Hydrogeology and Conservation.
I live in Black Earth with my 3 dogs - Louise, Sandy, and my most recent addition - Taz
Many of you might know Sandy as one of the dogs I transported back from Mississippi a few years ago. She is now a wonderful addition to my furry family
In my free time I enjoy reading, hiking, being with my dogs and 3 horses (Breezy, Patrón, and Geronimo), cooking, traveling, hanging out with friends and family, and going on any sort of road trip!
My favorite part of working at Barks is working with the reactive dogs to gain their trust and see them come out of their shell as well as hanging out with senior pups. I have a huge soft spot for those gray faces!

Jamie likes all animals both scaly, fuzzy and feathery! Jamie has lots of experience with an assortment of animals such as small mammals, reptiles and birds and of course dogs! She has this experience because fun fact - she was a zookeeper for a time! Jamie has two degrees one an associates in Liberal Arts Science and a bachelors in Wildlife Ecology and Management. Her hobbies include writing poetry, hiking and traveling. She is passionate about giving dogs a safe and fun time during their stay! She can’t wait to meet your fuzzy loved one!

My name is Robin! My husband and I have been together since we were kids, and along the way we have collected a small pack of dogs, bought them a house, acquired them a kitten (who is actually a dog in a feline coat) and brought them along for our wedding. :) All of our dogs are bully breed mixes, Amiyah Jean being our oldest, she turned 10 this year! You guys may know her as the noisy girl greeting you and your dog at the desk when you visit us at Barks on Bourbon. Maci Rae & Jupiter Jane are 7! And Aero is the only other boy besides my husband, and the baby of the pack (even though his size will deceive you on that), and he turned 6 this year! Callie Cat is our cat-dog and I scooped her up off of the train tracks a couple years ago as a wee little baby. They all LOVE making new friends at Barks!
I’m originally from Baraboo but have made the River Valley area my home for the last 20 years! And I’ve worked with dogs of all shapes, sizes, colors and attitudes for at least 10 of those years! I thoroughly love waking up every day and spending it with your dogs. Dogs are my passion and I am very grateful for Barks and more importantly, you guys as our clients, to be able to have the luxury to do so.

Hi I’m Camryn :) I’m originally from Schaumburg, Illinois and I made my way up to the Madison area about 3.5 years ago to start fresh and see what’s out there, and ever since I moved here I got into working with dogs! I grew up with my own dogs and have two back home, and my whole life I always found myself seeking out places and people who had them because they hold such a special place in my heart. As of right now I only have one cat named Boba but I swear that boy was a dog in his past life. He even does tricks :)
When I’m not working with pups I find myself doing a lot of art, watching movies, and playing video games. When it’s not cold and wintery I love to go and seek out some trails & lakes and find new things to do & explore in Wisconsin which feels endless since it’s still relatively new to me. I’m a kennel attendant in boarding so I am one of the people who gets to watch your baby while you’re away :) Can’t wait to meet your pup or see them again!

I mainly enjoy going on walks in nature whenever I can (love a good tree), as well as going to coffee shops every weekend with my boyfriend and playing chess while getting entirely too competitive about it. I also enjoy making art, preferably painting, preferably watercolor, as well as like most people hanging out with my family and friends!

Aside from working at barks I also work at Tyrol basin during the winter as a ski/snowboard instructor. I like to believe it keeps me partially sane during the Wisco wintertime. I love to ski and I’ve been doing lessons for the past eight or nine years - it was my first job in high school. Besides that I love camping! I converted a van and did a ton of traveling in the past few years, I love nature, fishing, kayaking, hammocking (yes my dog has his own hammock) spending time outdoors and taking my dogs to the lake. I’ve had many dogs over the years but I currently have 2 dogs - Harley is a pit mix and Teddy is a Pomeranian mix. I also have 3 cats - Jax, Katie and Whitie who is blind and 2 guinea pigs - Squeak and Squirt. I also had 2 turtles Jim Bob and John Boy.

My love for grooming started at the age of 13, working with my rescue dog, Eva, and it has since blossomed into a career I truly cherish. I enjoy working with all breeds, but Yorkies, English Cockers, and Doodles hold a special place in my heart. When I’m not grooming, I love spending time in nature with my Blue Heeler Finn. I am excited to be joining the Barks On Bourbon Team!

Hey there! I’m Tatiana, and I’m a grooming apprentice at Barks on Bourbon! I absolutely love animals but sadly don’t have any of my own pets at this time due to where I currently live so working at Barks and getting to meet and bathe and love on all of your dogs has been filling that cup for me!
I have a 3 year old son who also loves animals, and we get to spend a lot of time with a bunch of different animals at his grandmas house!
In my free time when I’m not grooming and fulfilling my mom duties, I spend a lot of time with my friends and family, enjoying their pets, going to concerts and spending any time outdoors that we can! My sister is my best friend! I also love all things beauty, which is how I ended up doing a grooming apprenticeship! What could be better than beauty and dogs all at once? The answer is nothing, I’m absolutely loving it!
